Joao Maria Gusmao and Pedro Paiva (1979/1977 Portugal)

今年のベニスビエンナーレのアーセナルの会場で見ました。(2013)作品がありすぎて個々の作品の記憶がすぐに薄れてしまうのが、大きな展覧会の常ですが、このデュオ作家の18ミリサイレンとフィルムはしっかり覚えています。フィルムは1つでなく暗室に5、6ほど投影されていたので、どちらかというとフィルムインスタレーションの印象でした。 ビデオでないフィルム独特の雰囲気の中で照らし出された ”妙” な映像は、これは何なんだ?という 疑問とともになぜか引きつけられます。男の人がひたすら卵を積み上げていたり、リンゴのまわりで猿が遊んでいたり、何かの車輪がひたすら回っていたり。。。 何かシンボル的な意味がありそうで、結局そこに答えはないような。。 フィシュリ&ワイスの映像作品に似ていると思うのは、私だけかな。。私だけかもしれません。個人的な印象です。 ”poetic philosophical fiction” 世界は見えているよりも、もっとミステリアスであるのかもしれない。。。だそうです。 ところで、カテゴリー分けするので気づいたのですが、初のポルトガル人アーティストです。今までなぜいなかったのでしょうね。 “Since 2001, João Maria Gusmão and Pedro Paiva have collaborated on the creation of enigmatic, lyrical photographs and sculptures, but most prominently they work in 16mm silent film. Louise Lawler(1947, US)

Louise Lawler ひたすら他のアーティスト作品のプレゼンテーションの写真を撮ります。美術館での展示途中の作品や、コレクターに買われた有名作家の作品がどんな風にリビングルームに飾ってあるのか等、この作家の方法論自体が既にユニーク。 このかたのfilm作品, A Movie Will Be Shown Without the Pictureを今度始めて見に行ってきます。 かなり楽しみです。。。

マイケル・スノウカナダの有名な実験映像作家.シンプル&ミニマル! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2il9r_snow_creation しかし、なかなか彼の映像作品見つかりません.ポンピデウーに彼のコレクションいっぱいあるらしいです.THE CENTRAL REGION というカメラをただ回転して撮影しただけの映像は、今見てもすごい.もうきっとカメラを上下回転とかは、今日彼の跡にやられ尽くしていることなんだろうけど、この奇妙なビジュアル感覚、タイトルとコンセプト、そしてシンプルなアプローチは今なおとても美しいです.
